One of the most rewarding aspects of my career is running our annual charity golf tournament to benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Lawrence. Over the years, I have had the honor of personally awarding scholarships to several of the recipients. These are young men and women with dreams of being the first in their generation to attend college. They have aspirations of becoming business leaders, engineers, scientists and doctors. All of these kids have faced significant adversity and financial hardships and each year I am touched by their sincere gratitude. Receiving a scholarship means the world to them because it gives them hope for a brighter future. I am so proud to work for RoundTower Technologies and to be part of an organization that values giving back to our communities.
This year, the tournament was held on Monday, August 15 at Haverhill Country Club. One hundred and fifty of our best clients and valued business partners arrived at about 11:30am for our annual outing. After loading golf bags onto carts, they went forward to the clubhouse for golfer check-in, mulligan/raffles and our welcome gifts comprised of custom men’s golf shirts and lady’s pullovers from Johnnie-O. Guests enjoyed a refreshing lunch and cold beverages while dining on the outside deck, overlooking the greens.
Gary Halloran, RoundTower Managing Partner, kicked off the tournament with welcoming remarks and a 1:00pm shotgun start. With a scramble format, the emphasis was on fun for both the experienced golfer and newbie alike. Along the course were food stations and contests such as longest drive, closest to the pin and double your money. Congratulations to the winning teams.
After the tournament, guests were treated to a dinner reception featuring a raw seafood bar, lobster rolls, fried clams made-to-order, carving stations and a variety of culinary treats. Attendees took advantage of the opportunity to socialize with their peers, industry experts and RoundTower team members. Those in attendance included Stephen Power, Managing Partner; Keith Odom, VP of Technology Solutions; and Andre Wu, Senior Director of Emerging Technologies. The evening concluded with an exciting raffle drawing and auction including sporting and concert tickets, autographed memorabilia, technology gadgets and gift certificates donated by local businesses.
Our thanks go to everyone that supported the cause by purchasing raffle tickets, mulligans and bidding on the silent auction. We would also like to extend particular gratitude to our corporate sponsors: EMC, HP Enterprise, VMTurbo, Brocade/Avnet, Cisco, ExtraHop, Oracle, ServiceNow, VCE, Veritas and Fuse. All of the proceeds are donated to the scholarship fund, established by Gary Halloran in 2007. More than $100,000 has been raised so far because of your generosity and continued support. Thank you again and we look forward to seeing you next year!
